Zapotec Weaving with Oaxacan Weaver, Felipe Hernandez
June 15 - 18
The Master is coming to us! This is truly a unique and exclusive opportunity to weave authentic Zapotec tradition here is the US. Felipe Hernandez is one of the most renowned weavers of Zapotec rugs in Teotitlan, Oaxaca. Felipe, like many of the weavers of the community, began weaving at age 13. He has carried on the tradition by teaching his three sons how to card, spin and weave. He is a master dyer who expertly produces rose, blueberry and peach shades and will provide his fabulous palate of wool as our materials to weave with. This is a unique opportunity to do Zapotec weaving in our own backyard! We will weave with Felipe for four full days - Thursday through Sunday. Our ever popular cocktail reception will be Thursday evening featuring a Oaxacan slide presentation and special trunk show and sale of Felipe's own "Indigo Rugs" and hand-dyed wools.
Limited to 7 weavers.
$595 per person includes all materials including Felipe's hand-dyed wool!
